Ceramics comes from the Greek word "keramos",meaning potter's clay. Making ceramic is one of man's oldest occupation, at least 10,000 years old. Egyptian ceramic articles made about 5000 BC have been found. The various types of ceramic include porcelain, ceramic tile, sewer pipes, china porcelains, grinding materials, fire brick and pocelain enamel.
